Do all Wii games work on all Wii consoles?

Nearly all Wii games can be played on Wii U simply by inserting the relevant disc, or by downloading the game from WiiWare or Virtual Console. You can even buy new Wii titles from the Wii Software channel. To start playing, all you need to do is fire up the Wii Menu application from your Wii U Menu.

Is Wii data stored on disc or console?

Show activity on this post. The Wii discs are read only, meaning no data are stored on them, only on the Wii itself. You'll need to copy your saves from your Wii to your Wii U through the systems transfer process, and you'll need to have both systems at hand, so you cant sell your Wii before buying a Wii U.

Can you put Wii games on a disc?

Insert a game disc into the Game Disc slot on the front of the console. The Wii console will turn ON automatically. If the console is placed vertically, the disc label will need to face to the right. If the console is placed horizontally, the disc label will need to face upwards.

Can Wii games be played on anything else?

Yes, it's possible to play Wii games and use Wii accessories on Wii U. However, please note that it is not possible to use Wii U games or accessories on Wii. Click here to find out more about Wii U backwards compatibility.
