Cannot fight at Gym

Cannot fight at Gym - Sid view of crop unrecognizable boxers in protective gloves bumping fists before fight in ring

I can pick up items in pokestop and catch pokemon. But when I approach the Gym, I can never use the Gym. It seems that the game will push me out of the range of the Gym. Can any one tell me why?

I've found that occasionally GPS data will be terrible around one particular Gym, causing it to fail to load. I had this problem a lot during launch but it should be a lot better now. You can always try restarting your device as well just in case.

How do I fight at the gym?

You have to raise your gym's rating up to X level before it can hold X Pokemon. So, if your gym is ranked as a Level 2 gym, and there are 2 Pokemon defending it, you can train at it, adding prestige until it becomes a level 3 gym.

How can I fight my gym remotely?

By placing a Pok\xe9mon from your inventory at a gym to defend it, you'll earn the Defender Bonus - a reward of 1 Pok\xe9Coin per 10 minutes or so that it stays there, which is now automatically claimed when your Pok\xe9mon returns to you (either after you take it out or it's returned automatically by reaching zero Motivation).

Answer 2

Besides early server issues, the problem could be due to weak cellular signal. With weak signal, your phone cannot reliably communicate with the server. I have seen this occur with gyms, pokestops, and pokemon.

Answer 3

Is your gym inside a big building? If it is, the GPS signal will likely be blocked. So your trainer location will be too inaccurate inside. If it is more serious, you can't even play.
