Dark Souls 3 controller not working

Dark Souls 3 controller not working - Man in Front of Monitor

On starting Dark souls 3 (steam/win11/razer blade 17) only the mouse and keyboard would work despite having an xbox series controller wirelessly connected. The xbox button prompts were there but the controller did nothing.

I was able to fix this by:

Going to Big picture mode > settings (cog icon) > controller settings > untick all except "guide button focuses steam"

Start the game and it works flawlessly.

Does PS4 controller work on Dark Souls 3?

Windows might sometimes be unable to detect your gamepad due to an overload of devices plugged in to your machine. Try to disconnect other plug-and-play devices and see if the issue persists. In addition, if you're using a USB hub, be sure to disconnect your gamepad from the USB hub and connect it directly to your PC.
