Do my animals need fences?

Do my animals need fences? -

I have a barn and a coop. Each has several animals in. Because fences keep deteriorating and get in the way, I didn't build any. The animals can roam freely around my farm.

Is there a downside to this? Will the animals eat my crops or escape if I don't enclose them?

Do I need a fence for my animals Stardew?

Any animals on your farm will randomly wander around (though they will stay on the farm). Putting up fences around them to create pens will ensure that your animals are always where you expect them to be; saving you valuable time.

What is the point of fences in Stardew Valley?

Fences will restrict the spread of grass and the movement of animals, so they're primarily useful for making pastures. That said, there's not really any harm in having your animals roam the whole farm except for making it slightly hard to find them.

Do you need to fence in cows Stardew?

Fences are purely cosmetic, animals do not eat crops, and they will go back inside themselves.

Do you need a fence around a barn Stardew?

Nope! Fences are completely optional! The main benefits of adding a fence around your barns/coops is to contain the animals so they don't wander too far away.
