Dragon Quest VIII ending

Dragon Quest VIII ending - Hungarian Horntail Dragon at Universal Studios

I finally finished Dragon Quest VIII last night. One question I have though is about right at the end. After the credits the final thing you see is some sort of symbol on a stone plinth that glows red. I think it is where you fought Rhapthrone and had to escape the area (so when he is a little blob not the big chunky guy in the sky).

What is the significance of this glowing stone? Is it related to the post-game adventure?

Best Answer

There are multiple parts to the post-game. The first part, which is necessary to gain some additional "story" related content, and which I highly recommend doing, is likely to only take you a few hours to complete (five or less I'd guess). There's further optional content after that, but which doesn't really have anything to do with the story, that may take another 20+ hours depending on leveling.

How did Dragon Quest end?

Dragon Quest 11's first ending feels remarkably similar to the story of Final Fantasy 6. Midway through the game, the bad guy wins. The world is plunged into darkness. Your failed heroes eventually rise and reunite, but it takes many sacrifices to bring you to a second showdown with the conquering, cackling villain.

Is Dragon Quest 8 long?

Getting through Journey of the Cursed King's story on the PlayStation 2 will take roughly 60 to 70 hours. Indulging in DQ8's lengthy post-game rockets that final playtime to anywhere from 80 to 100 hours.

Why is Dragon Quest 8 so popular?

It was a genuinely interesting world to explore. DQ8 was huge. As far as open world games went, it ranked as one of the largest in the series, even on the PS2. But unlike many open world games, it wasn't just padding -- exploration was rewarded. Treasure chests could be found perched on precarious cliffs.

Is Dragon Quest 8 a sequel?

It was released in Japan in 2004, in North America in 2005 and PAL regions in 2006, making it the first main series installment released in the PAL region. It is the eighth installment of the Dragon Quest series and it is the first English version of a Dragon Quest game to drop the Dragon Warrior title.
