Get SAS working on a probe in KSP 0.90? - Man Wearing Black Crew-neck Shirt and Black Jeans

In KSP 0.90 (beta), command pods only provide SAS when a pilot is onboard. A probe command pod like the Stayputnik doesn't have a pilot aboard. I tried adding an SAS module to my Stayputnik probes, but this doesn't enable SAS. How does one get SAS working with a probe in KSP 0.90?

How do I activate SAS in KSP?

The system can be toggled with (by default) the T key and temporarily switched by holding down the F key (for example, if SAS is on, holding F will turn it off, and releasing F will turn it back on). The current state of the SAS system is shown by a blue light on the navball.
