I got a limited amount of crude oil and want to turn it into the maximum amount of solid fuel. However, solid fuel can be made from heavy oil, light oil or petroleum gas.

  • Should I switch my refineries to basic or advanced oil processing?
  • Should I crack my heavy oil into light oil?
  • Should I crack my light oil into petroleum?

Let's assume I have no other uses for any of these resources.

How do you make solid fuel?

Solid Fuel can be created from heavy oil, light oil or petroleum gas. Light oil has the best oil to solid fuel ratio (10:1). Cracking heavy oil to light oil first changes the ratio for heavy oil to 13:1 (from 20:1).

How do you get petrol out of crude oil?

The lighter, sweeter grades of crude oil command a price premium, as they are easier to process and produce a higher percentage of gasoline than heavier grades, which produce more diesel fuel.

Is heavy or light crude oil better?

While light oils primarily used to create fuels such as gasoline, diesel and aviation fuels, heavy crudes (which also yield these transportation fuels) also provide feedstock for plastics, petrochemicals, other fuels and road surfacing.
