I am interested in picking up Dragon Ball Xenoverse for PS3, but I'd love to know how the fighting system compares to Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, especially in regards to complexity. I felt that Budokai Tenkaichi 3 possessed a challenging, yet rewarding system that, with enough time and practice, was a lot of fun to play and watch.

I have heard that Xenoverse's system is "simple," but I don't know what they're comparing it to.

Whats the difference between Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi?

In Budokai 1 and 3 you go through chapters, in Budokai 2, there is a board game-like world map in which you choose where to go with a certain set of moves, and engage on fights for items. Tenkaichi, on the other hand, has an over-world of sorts, in which you fly around the map looking for items and events.

Is budokai a fighting game?

Budokai is a 3D fighting game like Tekken or Virtual Fighter but a thing of its own. It doesn't make Budokai obsolete. It may be better competitively but Budokai is better for that raw DBZ feel and single-player content.

Is there a story mode in Budokai Tenkaichi 3?

The story mode is also significantly shorter than previous installments (missing battles such as Piccolo vs. Cell, and Gohan vs. Super Buu). A new Z-Point system replaces the leveling system from Budokai Tenkaichi 2.
