How do you get a Umbreon or Epseon during reduced buddy distance?

It is known that if you set an Eevee as your buddy for 10km (2 candies), then evolve it, it will turn into an Epseon or Umbreon depending on the time of day.

Now, there is a reduced buddy distance bonus from the Pokemon GO FEST. Eevee now requires walking 1.7km for a candy. So, is it still required to walk the 10km or just two candies worth distance (3.4km)?

According to the official support Twitter account, an in-game bug allows Eevee to evolve into Espeon (by day) and Umbreon (by night) simply by keeping them as your active Buddy Pok\xe9mon. Niantic has shared that the issue will be fixed on Monday, August 16th, after the Eevee Community Day has concluded.

How do you evolve Eevee into Espeon as a buddy?

First, add Eevee as your walking buddy so it appears on-screen with you. Next, you'll need to walk a total of 10KM with Eevee as your buddy in order to strengthen its bond with you. Finally, use 25 Eevee Candy to evolve it to either Espeon during the day or Umbreon at night. That's it!
