How to add decoupler to Staging List?

I'm having a problem with Kerbal Space Program where decouplers are not appearing in the staging list. Instead they are just to the left of the staging list. I can click them and drag them but they won't go into the staging list. Even if I add an empty stage and try to add them to it, no luck.

How do you use a Decoupler?

Since decouplers and separators all have a \u201cdecoupler force\u201d, this force can be applied to launch something. The more the explosive force and the less payload mass in this \u201cdecoupler rocket\u201d, the more altitude or speed will be gained from the separation.

How do rocket decouplers work?

Click the group icon, it'll expand. Then hold control and click the ones you don't want, then drag the rest to another stage.
