Is there a shortcut from the parish to Undead Burg in Dark Souls?

Is there a shortcut from the parish to Undead Burg in Dark Souls? - Asperitas dark clouds in gloomy sky

I've unlocked the bonfire near the blacksmith, killed the boar, and raised the portcullis. However, I'm told that there's a merchant back in Undead Burg. I went back there once, but almost didn't make it due to rat poison. Haven't made it back since. Is there a shortcut that leads back to Undead Burg?

If it's the rat poison you want to avoid, the bonfire at the other end of the bridge heals all negative effects, including poison, so it's conceivable that you could just run right to that, being careful not to fall of course.

How do I get to undead Burg from undead Parish?

The Undead Parish is a location in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. Here you will find the first Bell of Awakening. This area can be reached via Undead Burg initially or via Firelink Shrine (once you unlock the elevator) and it's also the gateway to Darkroot Garden and Sen's Fortress.

How do I open the shortcut in undead Burg?

There are no bonfires in this area, but there are entrances and exits that are all close to other bonfires. Once you use the Basement Key and climb down the ladder from the bridge (close to Solaire), you can run up the nearby stairs to unlock the shortcut to the (upper) Undead Burg bonfire.
