Pokemon Go not displaying smaller roads

Pokemon Go not displaying smaller roads - Yellow Pikachu Plushmascot

I have had no trouble playing Pokemon Go on my iPhone 6. However, since this morning the map is not displaying smaller roads anymore.

I can't navigate in parks etc anymore, it's incredibly annoying. Already tried reinstalling the app. My boyfriend with the exact same phone has no trouble and still sees smaller roads.

How is it possible they 'disappeared' and is there a way to fix this?

Best Answer

I can't prove it but yesterday Google Maps published an updated version of their maps and as we know, Pokémon Go uses this data. There the streets don't have an outer darker border. Small roads seem to appear only barely visible. Maybe the engine in Pokémon Go can't handle this.

How do I fix my Pokémon GO map?

Issue 1, Pok\xe9mon Go Map can't be loaded
  • Step 1: Go to Google maps and download an offline map of the area you are visiting.
  • Step 2: If any other apps are running in the background, close all of them.
  • Step 3: If any apps start by default even after closing them, use an app that kills these background jobs.

  • Why did the roads disappear on Pokémon GO?

Top Voted AnswerIt's a bug in the new version. Either re\xefnstall the game completely or remove the stored data on your computer. You'll have to relogin and stored battle parties will be gone, so backup those if you don't remember them.

How often does Pokémon GO update their maps?

Niantic updates their maps when they need to. There is no published schedule. Over Pok\xe9mon GO's three-year lifespan, there have been many months, even years, between updates of different map-related features.
