PS4 System Error after Updating

PS4 System Error after Updating - Expressive angry businessman in formal suit looking at camera and screaming with madness while hitting desk with fist

After updating my PS4, it appeared to freeze on an error screen. I had to unplug it because my controller didn't work, and pressing the power button didn't work to turn off the controller either. I thought it would then go into "rebuilding database" mode but it didn't, it was on the same screen after I unplugged it.

I tried this twice and then put it into safe mode. Now, the controller won't even connect in there with a USB hooked up. I then shut it off with the button and then turned it back on both with the controller and the button on system. They worked but when I get on it's on the same frozen screen as earlier.

What is wrong and how do I fix it?
