Rome total war running choppy on ASUS ROG GL551JW

I seem to be having a problem running Rome Total War on my ASUS ROG GL551JW. The game is choppy/glitch/laggy, no matter the video settings -- with max or min settings, the game remains choppy. This is strange given my being able to play Counter Strike: Source on max settings without a problem. Perhaps my computer is overqualified for Rome Total War? The specs for my comp are:
15.6-Inch FHD Screen. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 2G GDDR5 Discrete Graphics / Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.6 GHz Processor (Turbo to 3.6GHz) / 1 TB 7200RPM Hard Drive. 16 GB DDR3 RAM / Wireless 802.11 A/C. 10/100/100 Gigabit Ethernet Port / 3x USB 3.0, 1x HDMI, 1x MiniDisplay port. SDXC Card Reader.
The recommended requirements for the game can be found here: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri?gameName=rome-total-war&itemId=10210&p=r
It seems I should have no problem running this game without it being choppy. Any suggestions?
Thank you!
