First turn: My opponent played 8/8 mountain giant, I attacked him to 8/1.

Second turn: My opponent played Shattered Sun Cleric which gave mountain giant +1/+1, now Mountain giant is 9/2.

Then it's my turn, I played Ironbeak Owl on mountain giant, theoretically it should set back to 8/1 since I silenced buff, but he actually got back to 8/2. Why?

What does silencing a minion do?

Silence will cancel the target's abilities such as Taunt and all effects that have been cast upon it. Silencing a minion that has a Battlecry will not remove its effect from the field, but silencing a minion who has received a battlecry will remove the buff.

How does silence work Hearthstone?

Silence is an ability which removes all current card text, enchantments, and abilities from the targeted minion. It does not remove damage or minion type. Silences are mostly associated with Priests, and to a lesser extent Demon Hunters.
