SSD in PS3 Super Slim

I see many posts asking about replacing the HDD in PS3s, but nothing about SSDs.
Given that the original PS3's 2006 release date was years before SSDs started to become mainstream, I could imagine issues with my console after installing one (lack of complete support in the OS, perhaps?).
Are SSDs fully compatible with PS3s? Has anyone tested this before?

Can I use a SSD for PS3 Super Slim?
The biggest speed difference will be for games stored digitally on the ssd itself. I honestly think the idea that an ssd isnt faster in a ps3 stemmed from the idea that ssd weren't worth the cost for the upgrade back in the past 2000s. But now ssd's are A LOT cheaper, it's definitely worth it.Does an SSD improve PS3?
We noticed our new PS3 super-slim came fitted with a 7.5mm, 500GB hard drive. 7.5mm drives are typically used in slim laptops like ultrabooks, due to being thinner than standard 9.5mm drives. That said, the PS3's hard drive slot is large enough to accommodate 9.5mm drives should you wish to use one.Sources: Stack Exchange - This article follows the attribution requirements of Stack Exchange and is licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.
