The STAB mechanic is something I'm not sure it was already in the previous pokemon series (except pokemon GO), but is there a STAB in Pokémon Sun and Moon?

Does stab exist in Pokémon?

STAB (an abbreviated form of Same-type attack bonus) amplifies a move's power when a Pok\xe9mon's type matches the move's type. This boost in power is increased by 50%. So if a fire-type Pok\xe9mon uses Ember, which is a fire-type move, Ember's base power is changed from 40 to 60.

Does stab exist in Gen 1?

STAB was introduced in Generation I and has remained unchanged since.

How is stab calculated?

2- I'm pretty sure STAB is calculated after the super effective damage, so, in the case of Earthquake for example, it'd be 100 x 2 = 200, then 200 x 1.5 = 300. 3- Same goes for not very effective moves; the damage would be cut in half, then get a boost, so something like 100 / 2 = 50, then 50 x 1.5 = 75.
