When you generate a new world in Terraria (in game not through the console) an icon of a tree is shown. The same icon will be shown when selecting the world from the list:

Does every world have a living tree?

Every world are the same, no living trees. You can create Living Tree houses yourself. There are special wands which allow you to place Living Tree wood and leafs. Have you tried using different seeds or are you just clicking random gen?
