What is the range of Symmetra's Sentry Turret?

What is the range of Symmetra's Sentry Turret? - Brown and White Lighthouse on Brown Sand Near Body of Water

When playing against Symmetra I find myself killed by the turrets quite often, but when I try to use them to control a space myself I always mis-judge and leave them stranded out-of-range, to be easily picked off. They can notify me that a player is in the area, but never do much damage.

What is the range of the Sentry Turrets spawned by Symmetra? Are they only useful as very close-range traps/sensors, or do they have enough range to control a medium-sized space as well?

According to the wiki, which seems to be supported on this experiment by Reddit user mctiggs:

Symmetra places a small turret that fires a laser at targets within 10 meters

Where should symmetra turrets be placed?

Aggressive turrets are placed behind enemy lines and are usually hidden in corners. They force the enemy to turn around and can score a quick elimination. Defensive turrets are placed in chokes and/or pathways to give early warning if the enemy team is approaching.

How much damage does symmetra beam do?

Her beam has low initial damage, but charges off of shields and starts doing 180 DPS after shooting a shield or a target for just ~5 seconds. Her weapon regains ammo if you're shooting a shield, so it melts shields down quickly with 180 DPS, then when the shields are gone you're doing 180 DPS to the people behind it.
