What race are the Dwemer?

The Dwemer, known as the Deep Elves, are a race of elves that inhabit the underground cities in northern Tamriel. They are descended from the Aldmer, but have long since diverged from their ancestors that they have little in common with them.

The Dwemer were a free-thinking and reclusive Elven race who lived in Tamriel, mostly in Morrowind during the Merethic Era and the First Era. They were, in general, a very advanced and powerful civilization.
