If your complete party wipes, no. You have to also kill whatever killed your hero (complete the encounter) if you want the trinket back. If you retreat, you will get nothing. If you defeat the enemeies, you can loot their trinkets assuming you have inventory/trinket space.

When a hero falls, they cannot be recovered normally. There is a very low chance to have the Town Event From Beyond, which allow the player to resurrect one of 3 random heroes from the graveyard. Heroes who fell during endless harvest don't die, instead they go missing for a week then return afflicted and stressed without trinkets (and possibly lacing a trait) but alive. If you want your trinkets back, fight a shirker.
