Why can't I destroy this energy barrier with my melee attack?

I recently unlocked the melee attack in the first area of Returnal. According to the tutorial, I can use this attack to destroy energy barriers, vines, and other barriers. I've already used the melee attack to destroy a couple energy barriers and a few vines, but in my most recent run I came across an energy barrier I wasn't able to destroy with my melee attack.

This energy barrier doesn't appear to be any different than any of the other energy barriers I've destroyed (unless it's another colour blind issue), so I'm really confused as to why I can't destroy it. The energy barrier is a door to a blue (?) triangle room if that makes a difference, although I don't see why it would.

Why can't I destroy this energy barrier with my melee attack? Is this just a bug, or is there something I'm missing here?

How do you break the energy barrier in Returnal?

To destroy energy barriers in Returnal you need to find the Atropian Blade. The blade is found in the Overgrown Ruins, the first biome of Returnal. Use the Atropian Blade to bring down the Energy Barriers and pass through.

How to open orange barriers in Returnal?

To break orange barriers, you have to fabricate an artifact called the Blade Balancer, a tool you can find randomly at fabricators throughout Returnal. You'll usually find the Blade Balancer available for fabrication at the same station you find the Obolite Repository.

How do you get a melee weapon Returnal?

To unlock melee attacks in Returnal you will need to find the Atropian Blade sword weapon. The sword is found by following the main objectives in the first biome. You'll be asked to destroy a Xeno-tech barrier, and will be lead to the sword. You will not be able to melee before this.
