I've pretty much ignored glyphs so far, but I've found a greater glyph just now reasonably early in the game and I'm tempted to try it out. But I don't want to waste it entirely when I upgrade my gear in a few levels.

Are glyphs kept intact when I upgrade gear like the witcher set? Or are any socketed glyphs destroyed?

Does upgrading witcher gear remove runes?

When the items are upgraded, your runes are kept with the gear, so it will not be wasted. Your rune will stay in effect for the duration of that item. However you cannot remove the glyph and keep it intact without dismantling the gear in question.

Does upgrading witcher gear remove enchantments?

If you enchant any Witcher set gear but then upgrade that gear to a higher tier, the enchantment will be destroyed in the process, freeing up the slots (this does not happen with inset stones).

Does removing glyphs destroy them?

Yup dismantling will destroy the weapon to its sub components and you also get your glyphs/runes back.

Are glyphs permanent Witcher 3?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Similar to runes, glyphs are applied to empty upgrade slots on armor to permanently upgrade the Witcher's abilities.
