Are the later rooms strictly better than the earlier ones? - Woman in White Long Sleeve Shirt Holding Blue Book

At the later stages of the game, you unlock "advanced" rooms that have the same base functionality as earlier ones. I'm referring to the Nuclear Reactor, Garden, Water Purification Plant and Nuka Cola Bottler, that replace the functionality of the Power Generator, Diner, Water Treatment Plant.

At first glance, it seems like a good idea to (eventually) replace all your old production rooms with the new ones, once unlocked.

Are these advanced rooms strictly better than the earlier ones? If not, what are the downsides?

Best Answer

I've been testing out Gardens vs Diners, and they have equal capacity, 55 production maxed out compared to 40, but takes approx. 1.5x as long to produce it. To me, that's clearly not worth it. I'd rather have the faster production so my Mr Handy can collect it more regularly. That and 40 x 1.5 = 60, so 55 feels very tight for such an expensive upgrade. Waste of money...

Why is it good to reserve rooms in advance?

Looking at more than 2,500 hotel room rates between 2019 and 2021, NerdWallet found rates were about 13% cheaper when booked 15 days before compared to four months before. On average, travelers saved about $30 per night by booking last-minute, which can really add up.

When you check out of a hotel do you just leave?

Most times you can just stop by the front desk to let the receptionist know you're leaving. They'll review your charges and ask if you'd like a receipt of the final of the bill. If you don't have time for an in-person checkout, some hotels have a mobile app that notifies the hotel with a single tap.

Can a hotel charge you for checking out early?

Some hotels charge an early departure fee since they may not be able to sell the room if you leave early. But if you've prepaid for the room there's really no need to even let them know you've gone! Just check the room charges on the tv or at the front desk to make sure there are no surprises.

What is the empty room theory?

Opportunity Cost. Each night, when a room goes unsold, the hotel loses the opportunity to ever sell it again. A hotel cannot regain that opportunity. The \u201cEmpty Room Theory\u201d states that once a room goes unoccupied, it is gone forever.
