Changed Minecraft account name & now it says I'm not who I am - A Woman Showing a Placard

I just changed my name and when I got back onto minecraft it said I was using a totally different account. How can I change this back?

Why is my Minecraft account name different?

If you have an old Mojang account, you'll need to first convert it to a Microsoft account. Once your profile has been updated, you'll see your new username in Minecraft. According to Mojang: "When playing Minecraft: Java Edition you will see your Username in-game and not your Gamertag.

What happens when you change your name in Minecraft?

When you change your username, your previous name is saved for 37 days. This gives you an additional week to change back if you change your mind before your previous username becomes available to anyone else.

Why did my Minecraft name not change?

You cannot change your name if you created the account within the last 30 days, nor can you change your name more than once every 30 days. You also must change your name to a name that hasn't been chosen by someone else at this point.
