Dark Oak Trees are not growing even though all requirements are met

Dark Oak Trees are not growing even though all requirements are met - Yellow leaves on oak branch

I can't figure out why these trees aren't growing. They have been planted for a VERY long time. There is sufficient light. They have enough space around and above them. I've dumped a whole stack of bonemeal and they still don't grow.

Any ideas?

If there is only one dark oak tree sapling in the formation, it will not grow, because it needs 4 saplings in a 2x2 square to even be able to grow.

Why are my trees not growing Minecraft?

When a tree is to be grown, a height is chosen and then the ground and space are checked; if the ground is bad or there is not space for the chosen height, the tree does not grow. Bone meal can be used to speed up the growth of the sapling, even to grow the tree without sufficient light.

How do you get dark oak trees to grow?

Each time you use a bone meal, you will see green particle effects appear. It will take more than one bone meal to turn the dark oak saplings into a Dark Oak tree, so keep using bone meal until the tree appears.
