European PS2 controller on american ps2 - Cutout paper composition of dollar bills between pile of coins and financial stocks with curved diagram

I bought and european PS2 controller (S.O.G brand), it does not work on my american PS2. Why and how to bypass that?

I have tested on an european PS2 and it works...

Thank you!

EDIT: This is the exact model:

As you can see it's not an official playstation controller. Maybe this model/brand is region lock...

Do PS2 controllers work on PS2?

The bottom line is that in most cases, the DualShock 1 gaming controller will work with your PlayStation 2 video games console. That's so because it's compatible with the PS2 gaming console.

Can any controller work on PS2?

The best way to ditch the cords on a PS1 or PS2 is to simply use a PS3 controller. Since it has the same classic profile as the DualShock 1 and 2, the DualShock 3 is an excellent way to control a PS1 or PS2 without annoying cords while still keeping the same feel as using an official controller.

Are controllers region locked?

Controllers are not restricted by region.

Can I play American games on a European PS2?

Sorry, there is no way of region unlocking a PS2 system to play either domestic or imported games. You can do it to DVD movies but not video games. You're going to have to bite the bullet and get a U.S. PS2 to play domestic games.
