How do i apply mods to minecraft? [duplicate]

I want to use mods in mincecraft but i dont know where to put the file or what to do with it once i have downloaded the mods... please help!

Check the mod's website for installation instructions.

If for some reason there was nothing on the website, be sure to read the README file that was included with the mod.

If neither of those are available... no clue.

How do you use dupe mod?

How it works:

Throw the item(s) you want to dupe on the ground.

Press Esc and "Save and quit" to menu ->This saves the inventory of the player and the world.

Reenter the world and pick up the item(s)

Alt+F4 the game immediately when you picked up the items ->This saves the inventory but not the world.

Can you add mods to an already generated world?

Yes, (usually) you can do that. Not being able to would be pretty pointless, since no one sets up a whole server with all plugins and mods without ever joining it to test things before it's set up completely. Some mods might require a new map (usually their own one), though.
