How do i get to my Minecraft.jar? its not in my bin folder! [duplicate] - A Woman Protesting with Messages on Band Aids

I need to open mc.jar, but everyone says its in bin, but for me bin only has backups in it! someone help please! (P.S I am 1.8.7)

Best Answer

Since 1.6, Minecraft no longer uses the bin folder system. Instead, there is a versions folder that holds Minecraft .jar files for each version you're using.

Since you're using 1.8.7, you'll have to assume the 1.8.7.jar file as being your minecraft.jar.

How do I find my Minecraft jar file?

There should be a folder labeled "versions", which is what we're going after. Open it and look for a folder with the same name as the Minecraft version you are looking for; in your case, it will be named "1.7. 4". Inside this folder should be the jar file you're looking for.

How do I change my Minecraft jar?

If you can't run jar files on your Windows 10 PC, you might need to reinstall Java Runtime Environment. When JAR files are not opening, another great method is to simply use a universal file opener. Alternatively, some reported that turning your JAR file into a BAT file worked perfectly.
