So I downloaded the update (4.0 shows on the title screen) but there is no 200cc option when I go to choose a race. What else do I need to do?

How do you unlock 200cc in Mario Kart?

As it stands right now, 200CC mode can only be unlocked by purchasing the Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass for $4.99 a month. The good news is, right here at launch, you can get the Gold Pass free for 14 days, which gives you at least two weeks to try out 200CC mode and see if you even want to race at that speed.

How do you unlock 200cc in Mario Kart 8?

To unlock Gold Mario, first you'll have to progress through the 50cc, 100cc and 150cc Grand Prix cups normally to unlock the 200cc races. Then, you'll have to take first place in all of those Grand Prix cups as well. Once you pull that off, Gold Mario will replace Metal Mario on the character select screen.

How do you complete 200cc?

The right and left turns in quick succession just before the first jump may be the hardest segment in 200cc. Take the right turn nice and wide while tapping the brake liberally to moderate your speed. Release your drift when you have the ultra boost.
