How does League Replays (unofficial) record full League games using such little CPU?
Please don't shy away from the technical details!

Rather than recording a video, which is computationally expensive, LOLReplay simply records what is happening to the game objects in-game to a special file format, which can later be used to re-create the events of the match with arbitrary graphical settings. This is why you can't open a replay with a video player.
