How important is Gwent for the game?

How important is Gwent for the game? - Multiethnic businesswomen checking information in documents

I am not such a fan on Gwent.

Do I really need to play it to get further in the game? Is it just a nice way to make money or is it required at some point to be good at it?

Best Answer

As it is, it's just a Mini-Game.

In my personal opinion a really good one. I really enjoy a good game of Gwent.

But you don't need to play it in order to advance in the game.

Sure you can use for some coin or some fun but you can finish the game without playing it.

What is the point of Gwent?

Each game of GWENT consists of three rounds. Your objective is to win two of them. The aim of each round is to obtain more points than your opponent. Players take turns playing cards until one of them passes, indicating that they do not wish to spend any more cards for the rest of the round.

Can I skip Gwent in Witcher 3?

If you really don't like Gwent and you are not a completionist you can skip it, it's not mandatory for completing the game.

Are Gwent cards worth buying?

Yes, buy all good cards you see, multiple copies of a good card in your deck is a good thing. For some cards, like Blue Stripes Commando, it's even necessary to have as many copies of them as you can for them to be effective, since they have an ability which boosts them if you have several of them in play.

Is there a penalty for losing Gwent?

You don't lose any cards when losing to your opponent, only coin. Your first win against any opponent gives you a card, every consecutive win gives you a random crafting material and coin, of course. Playing with a NPC not related to a Gwent quest can make you maximum of 10 crowns per won game.

Answer 2

I'm nearly through the game and I played one Gwent game at the start to see what it was like, and one as part of a quest which I just folded in straight away to no apparent problems. So just ignore it if you like. I also haven't done any fistfights or horse races that weren't parts of other quests.
