I break blocks, but can notpick them up

I break blocks, but can notpick them up - Sullen black man sitting at table with drink

I'm mining, I look in my inventory, but not a single block has been picked up. I'm in survival mode, mining stone with a iron pickaxe. Shouldn't I get cobblestone?

As Unionhawk and aytimothy said, if you have cheats on, then type in /gamerule doTileDrops true.

You either have the gamerule set to "False" or have mods installed.

Initially only a few block types can be feasibly broken using only your hand, including dirt/grass, sand, wood and leaves, so try left-clicking and holding and see if you can break these types of blocks. If nothing is happening when you left click, then your mouse button might not be properly mapped.
