POSSIBLE SPOILER

What happens if you kill the Pursuer during your first encounter (the part where a big, armored, shield and greatsword wielding enemy is dropped by a big black bird on a square platform accessed via a ladder)? What happens if you don't kill him in your first encounter?

If you were unable to kill him during the first encounter, is it possible to gain the first encounter kill rewards in some other way later on in the game (vice versa)?

Please flag your answers for possible spoilers (if any).

What happens if you kill pursuer early?

If you kill The Pursuer on the platform, you get his soul, the Ring of Blades, and the reward souls. He will not appear in the boss room because you've killed him already.

Can you skip the pursuer ds2?

No, actually, he cannot be skipped. You will have to face him sooner or later for something which he is guarding.

Is the pursuer mandatory?

The Pursuer is a boss in Dark Souls 2. The Pursuer first appears on a plaza in the Forest of Fallen Giants as an optional encounter, and later appears again as a mandatory boss at the top of a nearby tower. He can be accessed any time after the player defeats The Last Giant.

How many times do you fight pursuer?

This only happens once per playthrough. When encountered in Forest of Fallen Giants, it is possible for him to go outside the arena, causing him to be unable to use attacks other than his basic swings. Being cursed whilst fighting the two Pursuers in Drangleic Castle will prompt one of them to leave.
