Is it worthwhile to go past 40 strength/dexterity?
I've been reading regarding builds in Dark Souls 2 but I haven't been able to find an answer to my question. I do know that before reaching that amount, the increase in attack for either strenght or dexterity for each point ranges from 2 to 4 per point, but past 40 it is reduced to 1 to 2.
Currently I have a melee character with level 250 or so and even though I have added faith to the mix in order to be able to use some pyromancy, I'm not sure as to which direction to go to past this point.
So, in short and as the title says: is it worthwhile increasing strenght and/or dexterity past 40?
NOTE: To clarify further, this question is to decide whether to continue the development of the character towards Strength/Dexterity or to continue towards another discipline such as Miracles. The question itself is just to know the worthiness of continuing that path (using my leveling points in Str/Dex) rather than asking which path to follow.

Should I go over 40 Dex?
There is really no need to go over 40 unless you have nothing else to spend the souls on. If you did want to go over 40 there is a ring later on in the game which adds points to your dex (I think 8 points), so still, there really is no need to go over 40, especially in NG.When should I stop leveling dexterity?
Like Strength, it's usually wise to stop leveling Dexterity once you've allocated 50 points to it. Any more results in diminishing returns. As with Strength, you can push to 60, just be aware each point will mean less and less.Does increasing dexterity increase damage?
This means that any change to our Dexterity has an even greater effect, as the multiplier increases. So a Dexterity of 20 will add a little bit of damage to an E-grade Dex scaling, and a lot of damage to an A-grade Dex scaling! How high should DEX be?
We also recommend a staff in your off-hand. We recommend an intelligence level of around 40 and a dex level of around 30. The main goal of this Elden Ring dex build is to effectively manage ranged and melee combat. You will be using the moonveil as your primary weapon, going in for damage and close-quarters combat. The Power Of Dex In Elden Ring
