Is there an optimal time to promote from the villager class?
//ads -- adsterra.com -- native banner

In most Fire Emblem games, there's an "optimal" time to promote - that is, you hit level 20 with the base class, and then you promote the unit so that it keeps 20 levels worth of stat growth.
Does stat growth work the same way in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia? (and is the villager --> main class process a "promotion"?) Can I try to max out the villager class, and then promote the unit so that they have the max stat growth? Or do their stats reset when they choose a main class?

When should you promote villagers?
Villagers, like other classes, can gain more stat-ups if you wait to promote them. However, getting a Villager to Level 20 early in the game is going to take a long time, and will significantly handicap you. I recommend getting a Villager around to level 8-10 before promoting to whatever class you choose.When should you promote Fire Emblem Echoes?
So if you have a Cavalier at level 7 who's ready to be promoted to a Paladin, its attack stat will automatically be raised to 12. Promoting early is usually rewarded in Fire Emblem Echoes, and if you're in doubt, it's better to get the benefits of higher classes than to miss out over a small stat gain.When should I Reclass shadows of Valentia?
To reclass, a unit must be level 10 or higher in a first tier class, or at any level in a second tier class. If a unit is at least level 10 in an advanced class, they can change directly to another second-tier class; otherwise, they can only demote back to first tier.What class should I make Kliff?
Cavalier is a good class for Kliff and lets him make very good use of his growth spread. He gets to 5 Spd on promotion which allows him to double Soldiers. He needs 8 Spd to double every standard enemy in chapter 1, which on average takes him about 5 levels to get to.Sources: Stack Exchange - This article follows the attribution requirements of Stack Exchange and is licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.
