Koalefant doesn't appear when following trail at night - Ray of Light Digital Wallpaper

I tried following the trail at night a few times, but about at the 8th footprint, character doesn't say anything like "animal must be near" and no further traces appear. I suppose it could be a bug, but maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Also, I'm playing with the Reign of Giants DLC content enabled.

How do you spawn Koalefant?

Upon uncovering the final footprint (there can be between 6 and 12 per hunt), the character will alert the player that the creature is close and a Koalefant will be spawned rather than another track. The mob will remain in the world until it is killed, regardless of which Seasons pass.

How do you hit Koalefant?

Behavior. When approached, the Koalefant will run away from the player until it is hit by an attack. Using a Boomerang, Blow Dart, or Sleep Dart is the most effective way to initiate a fight; however, the animal can also be cornered (see tips) and struck with a melee weapon to engage.

How do you get the winter Koalefant trunk?

A Koalefant Trunk Steak is made by cooking a Koalefant Trunk or a Winter Koalefant Trunk over a Campfire, Fire Pit or Star. Although the Koalefant Trunk is a hearty food it may be wiser to make one first into a Breezy Vest for the Winter, due to the rarity of Koalefants.

How do you spawn suspicious dirt pile?

Suspicious Dirt Piles are naturally spawning objects. They can be found randomly in the world and will change locations if players are more than 200 metre away. Once examined, the Suspicious Dirt Pile will be uncovered by the Character and replaced by an Animal Track pointing in the approximate direction of travel.
