Do item frames give off Redstone signal?

Item Frames can also generate a Redstone Signal using a Redstone Comparator by rotating the Item or Block inside them. The strength of the Redstone Signal depends on which rotation the Item is.

How do you make item frames trigger Redstone?

The output on each side is produced by the redstone torch under the block, held unpowered by the input torch from the other side.
