Player inventory missing if world moved from macbook to windows server

Player inventory missing if world moved from macbook to windows server - Silver Macbook Air and Goose Neck Lamp

I am a newbie as far as minecraft is concerned. I want to move a world on macbook to windows server to allow multiple players to play in the world. I zipped folder ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves/myworld on macbook and unzipped then in server directory (i then changed the world name in server.properties and i even tried renaming to world). I started the server and then connected using the same player username. So far so good.

While start up is fine, there are a few problems:

  1. The items in the player's inventory don't show up even though I copied playerdata folder to server

  2. I am in a different position than where I was on PC. This is not super critical to fix but is mainly a problem because I am unable to verify if the structures we built in the world transferred over correctly.

Note that if I move the files from macbook to windows and start Minecraft on windows (not server), then inventory and everything else looks good.

Appreciate any pointers.
