Question about Seed of Tree of Giants

Question about Seed of Tree of Giants - Shallow Focus of Sprout

Sorry for the vague title, I want to know about two things concerning this item in Dark Souls 2.

After the first invasion, is this item guaranteed to spawn? Generally the wiki states that this is a 10% chance top spawn after each invasion. However this seems off because after the very first player invasion in a new game, this item is always there. However after that, the 10% seems to kick in.

Do NPC Invasions count? Again, the wiki is vague on this topic and just states:

It has a 10% chance to grow on the corpse again after each time you're invaded.

What does the seed of a tree of Giants do?

Using the Seed of a Tree of Giants while being invaded will cause the enemies on the level to attack the invader as well as the player. Also affects Blue Arbiter spirits, Bell Keepers and Dragon spirits. Cannot be used when summoned by a member of the Rat King covenant, since the player will invade their world instead.

Where do you find giant tree seeds?

The seed is aptly located from a Giant Tree, one that is found just outside the Firelink Shrine, off the upper level exit leading towards the Belltower. This Giant Tree will often give the message "A Seed of a Giant Tree is yet to fall".

How long does seed of giant last?

The effect lasts for 45 seconds.

How do you get the seed of a giant tree to drop?

Outside of Firelink there's a tree. After fighting an invader, go back to it and you'll get one Seed of Tree of Giants. From the Giant Tree, obviously. The chance a seed will drop is 10% every time you get invaded, cumulatively until 50%.
