How do I place redstone dust on a dispenser? I am making a combat world and I want to make a TNT cannon. I tried tapping on the top of the dispenser, but it didn't work.

On PC:

Hold Shift (or if you changed key bindings, the sneak key) while placing to be able to place redstone on blocks that you can interact with (furnace, crafting table, dispenser etc.).

On Pocket Edition:

Press the sneak button, it should look like this (it should be a dark circle with a light circle in it):

Position of crouch button on screen

and not like this (it shouldn't be a dark circle only):

Not the jump button

On console editions:

Press the right analog stick (until it clicks, down on D Pad on PS Vita) to toggle the Sneak mode.

How do you troubleshoot Redstone?

If the pulse is too long, the repeaters are powered permanently and the only way to fix it is to break and then fix the circuit. A simple solution to this is to use a lever; flipping it on and then off 1 tick later. The most common method seems to be to place a redstone torch next to the clock, then quickly break it.

Why does my Redstone clock not work?

For example, a redstone torch attached to a redstone lamp does not activate the lamp. A redstone torch experiences "burn-out" when it is forced to change state (by powering and de-powering the block it is attached to) more than eight times in 60 game ticks (three seconds, barring lag).

Why does my Redstone torch keep going out?

You can power the block by running redstone signal into it (through powered redstone dust or repeater/comparator pointed into it) or by powering the block directly with a lever or a button. Similarly, attaching the torch to a redstone block will extinguish it immediately.
