Why do certain champions play certain lanes?

why do certain ones go top, others mid, others bottom? It's just the way that people determined to be the "optimal" strategy. ADCs can't be alone because they're easy to kill with ganks, so they need a duo lane with someone to keep them alive (support).

How does a champion scale?

Scaling refers to the rate that a champion is able to get stronger as a match goes on. This is influenced by several things such as farm, items, and kit. Just as every champion has a unique batch of abilities, they also have their own unique starting stats and stat growth rates.
