Silverfish stone/egg placement

Silverfish stone/egg placement - Woman Holding Her Face With Her Left Hand

How are silverfish monster eggs generated? All I know is that they are found in strongholds and igloos, but what determines which part they spawn in? (As in, is it totally random, or does it look for a certain structure/pattern etc...) The MC wiki only says: "found in Strongholds and igloo basements, occasionally in place of normal stone bricks. "

Why are silverfish spawning when I break stone?

When breaking them with a pickaxe, they take half as much time to break as their normal counterparts. When mined with a tool not enchanted with Silk Touch, an infested block drops nothing and spawns a silverfish that immediately attacks the player.

Does infested Stone spawn silverfish?

Infested blocks, or monster eggs, are blocks disguised as stone, cobblestone, or any stone bricks variants, but spawn silverfish when broken. They do not spawn silverfish in creative mode.

Do silverfish only spawn near strongholds?

No. Not always. There can silverfish blocks that spawn in extreme hills biomes. It does not really mean that you're near a stronghold.

What does it mean when you find Infested stone?

Infested stone is a block that looks exactly like a stone block but spawns a silverfish when the block is broken. In past versions of Java Edition, this block was called a stone monster egg. It was also called a silverfish stone in the older console editions of Minecraft such as PS3, Xbox 360, and WiiU.
