Slime Farm Lighting

Slime Farm Lighting - Wheat Field Under Gray Sky

I'm creating a large slime farm of 3 connected chunks, I know that for this project to work I need to light up the spawning platforms but I don't know which method to light them.

I understand that torches will block spawning spaces, but I don't know if glowstone can spawn mobs on it.

How do I light my slime farm?

Slimes can spawn in any light level, so you will need to light up the area. This can easily be done by placing jack-o-lanterns in the floor. They provide enough light, and slimes are able to spawn on top.

Are slime spawns affected by light?

Slimes spawn in the Overworld in specific "slime chunks" below layer 40, regardless of light levels. They can also spawn in swamp biomes between layers 50 and 70 in light levels of 7 or less, with these layers tending to be near the surface.

Does light prevent slimes from spawning?

Slimes can spawn in any light level, so having your area well-lit will not stop them.

Does a slime farm need Sky access?

Description. Any slime that spawns in a slime chuck has to have sky access in order to spawn. This means that with a multi layer farm in a slime chunk, you will only ever get slimes to spawn on the top layer.
