If you are lucky you will run into a slime chunk. These are the only chunks that spawn slimes, they don't just spawn. How to find them? They're just random. If you are exploring and you see a slime, you are in a slime chunk.

A more consistent way to find them is in swamps. They always spawn at night in swamps.

How do you get Slimes to spawn?

Slimes can spawn in any light level, so you will need to light up the area. This can easily be done by placing jack-o-lanterns in the floor. They provide enough light, and slimes are able to spawn on top.

Why can I not find slimes in Minecraft?

As with the swamp biome, slimes won't spawn if you're 24 blocks (or closer) away from the spawn area. Wait for slimes to spawn. If you don't see any slimes within a standard night and day cycle, you'll need to find a new cave.

Why are no slimes spawning in my swamp?

Slimes do not spawn in swamp biomes at higher light levels. The perfect time to farm slimes in a swamp biome is on a full moon night. As per wiki, before spawning a slime, the game checks two factors: If the light level is equal to or less than a random integer (from zero to seven)
