Transmogrification Rules and Groups

Transmogrification Rules and Groups - Men Paddling in Inflatable Raft Boat during Daytime

I want to build myself some nice options in the Void Storage, specifically regarding weapon choices, but I need some clarity on the rules/groups around Transmogrification.

Firstly, are your options limited to your armor skill only (Plate, Mail, Leather, Cloth), or can you use anything that you could wear?

Secondly, regarding weapons, how is it decided which designs can be applied to which weapons? Can all 2-handed weapons fit on each other, or is it like Swords on Swords only, etc, or is it more specific than that?

Also, I heard that you cannot apply the design of a Legendary Item to anything (which I understand for exclusivity purposes), but does the opposite apply? Can I apply a design to perhaps conceal my Legendary Cloak, or make it look like something that I like more?

Is Transmog account wide?

Artifact appearances, including completed Mage Tower challenge appearances, are account wide. You can transmogrify a non-artifact weapon with an artifact appearance unlocked by a different character on the account.

How many items can you Transmog?

Most fans take umbrage with Bungie's artificial limit on how many items players can Transmog per season. Each player can earn 10 Synthweave each season (typically a three-month period) on each character class. That means dedicated fans can Transmog 30 pieces of armor total per season, with 10 per class.

Can you Transmog polearm to sword?

Polearms and staves can be transmogged into each other. One-handed maces, axes, and swords can be transmogged into each other.

How do Transmog work?

How do they work? Transmog Sets will be in a new tab in the Transmog UI. These will help you keep track of which sets you have collected for your class and spec. You will be able to scroll through PvE and PvP sets for your class to see which sets and items from sets you've collected and which you haven't.
