What happens to dark elixir? [duplicate]

Say you don't have a dark elixir storage, then you raid somebody who does and gain 500 dark elixir. What happens to that dark elixir? Is it unobtainable? Just gone?

What happens to the dark elixir without a storage?

If a player manages to obtain Dark Elixir without the ability to store it, they will be lost. However they still give credit toward the Heroic Heist Achievement.

You can destroy a dark drill to get the dark in it by using lightning spell on it but you cannot attack a dark elixir storage with a lightning spell.
