What time should I go to bed?

Running around doing heavy labor on the farm (chopping trees and bashing rocks) has made me very tired very quickly, but it's still pretty early in the afternoon.
Is it "ok" to go to bed this early? Will I wake up at 6AM the next day no matter what happens the day before? What can I do to stave off sleep until the "optimal" time (if there is one).
