Where does the Cuddlefish go if you tell it to stop following you? -
A Close-Up Shot of Golf Cart Pedals

I'm playing Subnautica, and I was wondering where my Cuddlefish goes when I ask it to stop following me.

Best Answer

They stay around the spot you told them to stop following you. They might swim around a little, though, and they're easy to miss.

This is vaguely written on the Cuddlefish page of the Subnautica Fandom website:

"The Cuddlefish will either follow the player around or stay in one area when told to. The player can tell it to stop/start following them using RMB."

What happens if I tell my Cuddlefish to stop following me?

When you command your Cuddlefish to stop following, a patrol radius is created at that location where the Cuddlefish will patrol and roam around. It'll stay there until the player interacts with it again to follow the player. OR they may glitch into the terrain.

What happens if you release a Cuddlefish?

Unless a glitch happened and it dissapeared, when you release a Cuddlefish it will default follow you wherever you go.

Can you lose a Cuddlefish in Subnautica?

Over time they will die so if you can't bear to not have one because of this, just do Debug Cuddle fish and spawn yourself a new one every time it dies due to the hard grind of Subnautica.
