Why can't I mine diamond, gold ore, or redstone ore?

Why can't I mine diamond, gold ore, or redstone ore? - Black Stone

Normal blocks I can mine fine, but when it comes to diamond and gold ores, the block just gets "destroyed" (as in you can't pick it up). I'm playing on multiplayer with no spawning monsters.

Can you mine diamond ore with gold?

Although it may be tempting to use stone tools for digging to save the durability of iron tools, remember that diamond ore does not drop diamonds when mined with a wood, stone, or gold pickaxe.

Can you mine Redstone ore?

The most common way of getting redstone dust is by mining redstone ore. Redstone Ore can be found 10 blocks (or layers) above bedrock or in between bedrock. This means it can be found commonly from blocks 5-12, and rarely up to layer 16 or down to layer 2. You will need an iron pickaxe to mine any redstone ore.
